St. Pius X is very blessed to have many talented, hard-working parishioners willing to volunteer their time. Many of these volunteers meet as they are able on Tuesdays and Thursdays to share their time and talent with the Buildings & Grounds Ministry. We have been very busy recently, working on several projects on our parish campus. Two large projects involved adding additional concrete to the westside school entrance and adding a large concrete pad on the eastside of the school, by the playground, so students have somewhere to put their backpacks when playing before school starts. It is also used by staff to bring out play equipment during recess.
You likely noticed our other project when walking up to the main entrance of the church. It is the new stable built for our nativity scene. It was an idea I gave one of our ministry volunteers, and he ran with it. Within seven days he had the new nativity stable built. See the pictures below. Among many other smaller projects accomplished, our group also puts up much of the Christmas decorations in church.
I would like to personally thank the following volunteers for their work this past year: Dave Schmidt, Tim Schellinger, Ed Smereck, Mike Rekoske, Jim Long, Andy Miles, Joe Leege, Tom Cherrier, Brad Gehring, Dave Wittlin.
Also, a special thank you to the businesses that generously donated materials for our projects: MCC, Calin & Goss, The Solutionist
